Case Study:
Mr & Mrs Pinkham, The Old School

Over recent years considerably increased oil costs coupled with their desire to stay at The Old School, prompted Mr and Mrs Pinkham to research alternative forms of heating. Wanting to utilise some form of renewable energy, several options were investigated.

The Problem:

Initially they employed a consultant to provide a feasibility study of the whole property but when this did not prove successful, they completed the research themselves bearing in mind their main aim to reduce energy costs.

Wind was not appropriate because of nearby overhead cables and there was insufficient room for a ground source system, they even looked at utilising their well!

EOC Services' Solution:

Having concluded an air source heat pump was the right solution for their property, Mr and Mrs Pinkham chose EOC because they felt EOC knew this new industry well and their quote was within their estimate of cost. The project involved a completely new system, removing the old oil tank, boiler, indirect cylinders and water storage tanks. Their existing radiators remained and were reconnected.

Air source heating is definitely recommended according to the Pinkhams given that there is no pollution, no unsightly oil tank in the garden, no reliance on oil and worry about price increases, whilst being very economical to run. The system also came in within their budget.

Our Satisfied Client’s Thoughts:

We found EOC to be extremely helpful in our initial investigation, enquiry and decision making on which system to install. The quote was comprehensive with everything clearly laid out. The installation was done to suit our programme and time of year. Disruption was minimal.

A lot of the preparation and excavation work was done by ourselves and a successful programme was achieved between us. We had a good working relationship. Any teething hiccups were dealt with very promptly and their commissioning engineer was extremely patient in explaining the whole system and its set up.

We would welcome anybody thinking of installing this system to come and talk to us, and would have no hesitation in recommending EOC Services as designers, installers and commissioners of a similar set up.
